POLLY PERFORMING ARTS
presents
the traditional Cantonese Opera
The Happy and the Sad

Polly Performing Arts Association is pleased to present traditional Cantonese Opera over two days, with elaborate costumes, and a live music band of 12 pieces traditional chinese orchestra, with the proceeds going to "The Indo Chinese Elderly Hostel" as a charity fund for their extension of the hostel. Polly Performing Arts Association will be joined by highly acclaimed Cantonese Opera actress Ms Chan Wan Hung and actor Mr Wong Wei Kun, both from China, who will take you on a journey through two epic stories, one joyous and one bittersweet.
On 25th February 2012, the first of the epic acts starts with the light-hearted story of a spoilt Princess Fung Ha, how she wants to over-power towards her future husband. The second story on 26th February 2012 recounts the tragic tale of Lady Tang and her lost love over 40 years.

The main stories on both days will be predeced by three short acts that are famous and popular among the Cantonese Opera community. On the first day, Lady Man Kei sings of her love for her home country upon her death; the Great Beauty Diu Tsim attempts to seduce a general at a banquet; and two great scholars admires each other's poetic talents. Over the second day, the troupe brings to you the wedding of Cheung Ping and her tale of sacrifice; a heavenly Princess returning her son to her husband on earth after she realised that life on earth were full of illusions, greed and stress; and Lady Man Kei is having a sad farewell to Emperor Wu before returning to her home country.

The Director of Polly Performing Arts Association, Mrs Suzanna Tsui and The Polly Friend's Club troupe of sixteen will be supporting these stories in various roles, featuring Mr Raymond Wo from Hong Kong and Mr Stanley Chan from New Zealand.

Polly Perfroming Arts Association is proud to present such a entertaining programme, and invite you to join us on for two days of vibrant Cantonese Opera!
