Elena Kats-Chernin, Jane Rutter, Tamara-Anna Cislowska
Returning by popular demand, three of Australia’s most cherished musicians—artistic director flautist Jane Rutter, pianist Tamara-Anna Cislowska, and composer Elena Kats-Chernin—join forces in Ancient Letters: a spellbinding journey through history, reimagining some of the world’s most intriguing exchanges and written treasures, from the first recorded letter by a young Uzbek woman to intimate writings by Bach, Schubert, Chopin, Colette, Ravel, and Jane Austen.
In this lyrical return to the Live at Lunch stage—following their acclaimed 2016 performance Unsent Love Letters—the trio reunites to share Kats-Chernin’s stunning original work Ancient Letters, woven with music inspired by her greatest influences, including Tchaikovsky and Michel Legrand. Full of warmth, wit, and musical storytelling, this is a heartfelt celebration of words, friendship, and the timeless beauty of musical conversation.
