The Creation is a Joseph Haydn masterpiece. With orchestra, choir and soloists, the oratorio celebrates the beginning of the world as described in the Book of Genesis, the Psalms and John Milton’s Paradise Lost. It powerfully brings the subject to life with bold use of orchestral colour, innovative harmony, strong rhythms and melodies. In three parts, the libretto deals with the creation of the universe and the plants, the second with the creation of animals, man and woman, and the third with Adam and Eve in Paradise.
